Parent Feedback
The summer program provided by Advanced Pragmatics was well-rounded and balanced with thoughtful lessons/activities with a purpose for teens on the spectrum. My child was reluctant to attend (since he is routine driven), but after the first session, he was intent on returning! And he has!He has since completed two consecutive summer camp sessions, and every day he looked forward to the new and exciting activities. Currently he is enrolled in the weekly sessions, and Brenna (director) is simply the best. She maintains a positive rapport with all of the kids and parents. All of her lessons focus on life skills (texting etiquette, goal setting, personal hygiene, communication skills, taking the bus, making a budget, healthy habits etc). As a mom with a child on the spectrum, it can be overwhelming to tackle all of these topics (while also raising neurotypical children), and it’s nice to have another “safety net” of another trusted adult who can broach these sometimes sensitive topics with the students. Brenna has filled a niche as most ASD programs are geared for younger children. Observing Brenna interact with the students, it is obvious how much she cares for them and their future. As a high school teacher myself, I know firsthand how wacky this age can be, and Brenna handles any and all hurdles with ease, respect, and professionalism. Aside from the program itself, Brenna is an amazing resource in regards to IEP goals, post-high school options, and overall an extra support in your child’s team.

My son has been coming to Advanced Pragmatics for almost a year. He is a teenager with Autism and it has been great for him to meet other kids like himself that are close in age with common interests. This group has taught him to be more independent and learn new social skills that have helped him interact better with his peers. The group is led by Brenna, a Speech and Language Pathologist, who is very nice and genuinely cares about our kids. Advanced Pragmatics also runs an awesome Summer camp that my son attended which had lots of fun activities and social outings. I highly recommend this group to any families with kids on the Spectrum.

Advanced Pragmatics had an amazing summer program for my teen with ASD. This was our first experience with this organization. The leadership is fun, professional and related very well (with my initially reluctant participant). The director was responsive to my questions and I had a lot. My son loved it and woke up early each morning excited to participate (this was wonderful for us to see as a parent). The activities were varied, intentional, and interesting. The two week program helped get him thinking about the future and increased his interest in his peers. My only complaint is that it was too short. We would love to see a 4-6 week program next year. There are not many programs out there that cater to this age/population. This experience was truly excellent. Definitely a great program and highly recommended!

My 18 year old daughter went to a week of summer camp and enjoyed it very. They did age appropriate activities and she made new friends. I would recommend this program to others.
